SoCal Gas produced a sustainability whitepaper that they wanted to distribute to a very large audiance. The primary mode of distribution was digital. Because of the length and complexity of the document, they wanted navigation integrated into the PDF. They also needed to be able to print out copies of the report for board members and did not want unclickable links and buttons cluttering the layout.
My solution was to use a very strict grid and layer system within InDesign to create one working file that could export both a clean print document and a highly interactive digital one, avoiding the need to duplicate changes across two seprate documents when editing.
