SoCalGas produced a sustainability white paper designed for broad digital distribution. Because the report was long and complex, the digital PDF needed integrated navigation to help readers move easily through the document. At the same time, the client also needed print-ready copies for board members and did not want inactive links or navigation buttons cluttering the printed layout.
My solution was to build a single InDesign file using a strict grid and layer system that could support both outputs. This allowed us to export a clean print version as well as a highly interactive digital PDF from the same working file, eliminating the need to duplicate edits across two separate documents and creating a more efficient, reliable production process.
